UGunixgram

Our own protocol. Our own servers.

Conversations that belong to you

Unixgram is a messenger and a social network in one app. Secret chats with end-to-end encryption, messages on a timer, stories, channels and calls — on top of a transport we wrote ourselves.

Free. No ads in private messages.

Why Unixgram

Nothing here that you cannot verify by opening the app. All of it ships today.

An interface you don't have to learn

Swipe to reply. Long-press for the menu. Folders to put chats where they belong. Nothing important hidden three settings screens deep.

Secret chats

Keys are derived on the devices and stay there. What sits on the server is ciphertext we cannot read — a property of the architecture, not a promise.

Messages that disappear

Set a timer on a chat and the conversation erases itself for both sides when it expires. For the things that shouldn't outlive the conversation.

A protocol of our own

UnixProto is not HTTP polling. A persistent connection, five transports to choose from, stream obfuscation and an encrypted channel. The specification is published.

Opens instantly

A chat paints from the on-device cache before the server has answered. Lose the network and the conversation stays where it was, still readable.

Stories

An editor with camera, music, text and stickers. Post as yourself or as a channel, to everyone or to a chosen few.

Channels and communities

Publish to an audience of any size, run discussions, pin what matters. Channels get their own profiles, gifts and statistics.

Calls

One-to-one voice and video over WebRTC with our own TURN relay — so the call survives strict NAT and mobile networks.

Gifts and stars

Collectible gifts with rare attributes, upgrades, transfers and resale between people. Stars are the currency inside the app.

Media on our own servers

Photos, voice notes and video live on our disks, not in someone else's cloud. Fewer intermediaries means fewer places a copy can appear.

Up to three accounts

Personal, work, and one more. Switch with a long press on your avatar — no signing out, no signing back in.

Make it yours

Nine accent palettes, light and dark themes, chat wallpapers. The app adapts to you rather than the other way round.

UnixProto underneath

Most web messengers talk to their server with the same requests an ordinary website uses. We wrote the transport from scratch: a persistent connection, our own packet format, an encrypted channel and session recovery after a drop — so a message still arrives on the underground and on a roaming mobile connection.
